BranNu, born Sonti Brown in Des Moines, Iowa, was raised in a family of creative individuals and often found himself surrounded by musicians in his local church. Though he didn’t receive formal musical training, BranNu is a self-taught musician whose own dedication to his craft helped to elevate his sound. Having grown up on Hip Hop (Dr. Dre’s The Chronic he cites as an influential album), Sonti’s first experience with production was through a friend who introduced him to the production software FL Studio. Despite being Bangladesh’s cousin, he had to earn his stripes before being signed to Bangladesh Productions. Having witnessed Bangladesh create hits such as “What’s Ur Fantasy” and “Stick ‘Em Up” firsthand, it would be years before he felt confident enough to let Bangladesh hear his music. After honing his craft, Bangladesh invited BranNu to join the team, where he has gone on to produce for artists such as Eminem, Royce the 5’9”, Rye Rye, Rihanna, and 2 Chainz, with projects alongside Nicki Minaj, Gucci Mane, YG, and Shawnna on the horizon.
